There are two types of people out there on the Internet right now: Those who know how to Squidoo and those who do not. Those who have spent the time learning how will have a significant advantage over those who haven’t for quite a few reasons. The problem is that there are a lot of people who don’t even know what Squidoo is, so let’s go over that real quick.

As far as what I use it for, Squidoo is a blogging platform, but instead of having multiple posts on one topic, you create what is called a lense. Each lense is focused on one particular topic and is usually broken down into very specific categories that explain the particular topic. These lenses can be used for educational, entertainment, or any other purpose you can really think of. Learning how to Squidoo can be the easiest part, once you have a topic in mind.

A majority of people enjoy images when reading content, but there are a few who do not. Squidoo seems to lean towards using images. All you have to do to create a lense is find a topic that you want to write about, create some written content, get a picture or two, and put it all together using the Squidoo platform. After seeing my example, you should understand how simple using Squidoo is. Even with that being said, you may be wondering why you would ever need to learn how to Squidoo. There is one simple reason for that: Squidoo has a very high page ranking with Google, therefore when you write a quality piece of content and publish it on the Squidoo platform, you are able to get much more traffic than by creating a website yourself.

If you have your own blog, you can even write a Squidoo lense about a particular marketing technique and link it back to your blog. That way, anyone who reads your lense and is interested in what you have to say might click your link and that is absolutely free traffic to your site that took minimal effort. Many top marketers utilize Squidoo for every new product due to the fact of it being a high traffic site.

Picture this: you are releasing your brand new product to the masses and no one knows about it yet. You are preparing your blog post, your social media sites, your email broadcasts, a couple videos and maybe some other marketing techniques. Wouldn’t it be good to have your own Squidoo for your own product before anyone else does? I would think everyone reading this would agree the answer is yes. Online marketers do have a problem using free tools because of how they go about it. This often lies in the fact there is no monetary investment to get started. This can be true with the powerful marketing tool known as Squidoo.

Here are a few tips I can offer you to get more out of a Squidoo as a marketing tool and make money online with it.

1. Offer a professional appearance. If you have any doubt about what this means look at some of your competitors and see how they are creating professional appearances in their own lens.

Free services such as Blogger.com and Squidoo can lead to poorly designed appearances by their owners. The result is less time spent by visitors and ultimately less income to you.

2. Use keywords effectively. Search engines will find your pages if you title them correctly and include keyword phrases in the description. You should also be using these words in the tags and linking to other sites for better results.

3. Create a lens of the day. This will keep people interested in your page and bring them back in the future.

4. Stay on theme. One advantage to Squidoo is you can create more than one page if you want to venture into other niches. The critical thing is to stay on theme and not confuse your readers or search engines with irrelevant information.

5. Use the answer desk if you have questions. The forum is another good place to find helpful information or get your questions answered.

6. Look over your grammar and spell check. This will reflect poorly on you if there are multiple mistakes.

7. Take advantage of affiliate products and create lenses for them. This is an excellent way to monetize your pages and to make more money. As an affiliate marketer you do not need to create any of your own products and many offer excellent compensation plans.

For sure incorporate Google Adsense into them. Also join PayPal so you can get paid by Squidoo and other affiliate programs that pay with them.

8. Use Search Automator for sources of information. You can find information with this free tool via articles, search engines, video, podcasts, and much more.

Avoid using Google as you can get your content spidered and archived better if you are providing fresh content from other sources.

These are a few Internet marketing strategies using Squidoo. There is a learning curve to doing this correctly, but once you understand that it can be a powerful source of traffic and an income generation tool!
